Preble County Education Service Center Board

Election 2025

How it started: I was contacted after an ESC board member stepped down and left an empty seat. They knew me from coaching basketball and my work with youth. I was a member of the Preble County Youth Foundation ran by judge Dues that helped get the YMCA into Eaton; I also had founded the youth girls basketball at Twin Valley South and also had founded the peewee football program at Twin Valley South as well. Since help was needed at the ESC and I have the time, it was easy to say yes.

I have always been willing to give back to the community. Youngsters need people willing to help - I remember the coaches that I had growing up and am grateful for their time and commitment, it made a difference to me. As a coach and youth leader, I try to carry that torch for the next generation. Now that I am retired, I see my membership to the board as yet another way to carry on at a different level and that is why I decided to run for this board seat when it came up for election. Please vote for me this fall.

What is the ESC? It does a lot more than I was aware of when I started. I was vaguely aware that they took care of the kids with behavior problems that the home schools did not want to deal with. But as I learned, they do a lot more than that. They also work with kids with developmental problems and have programs to help them. There is also a preschool program. They screen and provide substitute teachers to the county schools. So there are a lot of moving parts and what is does is augment the the capabilities of the surrounding schools so they can focus on their core students.
